Commentary Mo' On Radio News — 09 November 2015

There is a difference between protests/boycotts and EFFECTIVE protests/boycotts. It lies within the methods employed. Ones which only include expression of grievances yet do not force action are inevitably doomed to fail. We explain why.

Quentin Tarantino has singlehandedly hijacked the #BlackLivesMatter movement, conveniently the same week his new movie drops its trailer for the world to see. It’s the perfect cautionary tale as to how all movements must be vigilant in protecting its message against celebrity grandstanding.

Also, from Halle Berry to Eddie Murphy, celebrities beg us into their marriages and relationships with press releases.  Because those same relationships may eventually dissolve, it doesn’t then exclude us in the media from social commentary.  They don’t get to kick us out after they invite us in.  9 children by 5 women Eddie Murphy is simply not a good look.

And Debi Thomas…we’re pretty much speechless.
