As The Mo’Kelly Show commemorated Memorial Day and observed the contributions of fallen American heroes this weekend, we were joined by two esteemed veterans who soberly put the holiday in its proper context.

  • Fernando Rivero – Fernando is a Navy Iraq and Afghanistan War Veteran and a representative of Hollywood American Legion Post 43.
  • Jimmy Weldon – Jimmy was a member of Patton’s Third Army Combat Engineers, WW II Veteran, Hollywood legend as the voice of Yakky Doodle and the last surviving member of the Yogi Bear cast; in addition Jimmy is also a member of Hollywood American Legion Post 43. The American Legion is a congressionally chartered mutual-aid veteran’s organization of the United States armed forces founded to benefit those veterans who served during a wartime period as defined by the United States Congress.

The American Legion was founded in 1919 by veterans returning from Europe after World War I, and was later chartered under Title 36 of the United States Code. The organization is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana and also has offices in Washington D.C. The group has nearly 3 million members in over 14,000 Posts worldwide.
